Most business applications are patient. They store information and wait for someone to act. An invoice arrives, and someone types in the details. An expense claim comes in, and someone checks it against the policy. A staff member has a question about their leave, and someone in HR stops what they are doing to answer it.

AI agents change that.

What is an AI agent?

An AI agent is a helper that lives inside an application and does tasks on its own. In a finance app, an agent might read an incoming invoice and fill in the supplier, amount and due date. In an expense app, it might check each claim against company policy and point out anything that doesn't fit. In an HR app, it might answer staff questions about how much leave they have left. In an approvals app, it might flag an unusual request so a manager takes a closer look.

The aim is not to replace people's judgement. It is to take the repetitive checking and typing off their desks, so they can spend their time on the decisions that need a person.

Where agents are made

Chocolate Factory is where agents for BuildPad applications are made. It is designed to be easy to use. Your team describes what an agent should do, builds it, and tests it, all in one place.

Testing before trusting

An agent that behaves well most of the time is not good enough for business use. If an expense agent wrongly passes a claim that breaks policy, or an HR agent gives someone the wrong leave balance, trust disappears quickly.

That is why testing is part of Chocolate Factory. Before an agent goes anywhere near real work, your team can try it out, see how it responds, and adjust it until it behaves the way it should. Only then is it ready to use.

Packaged like a recipe

When an agent is ready, Chocolate Factory packages it as a small settings file, called a JSON configuration file. You can think of it as a recipe card: it describes exactly what the agent does and how it should behave. Any BuildPad application can take that recipe and run the agent.

This way of working has two big benefits. First, an agent built once can be used in many apps. A policy-checking agent built for expense claims could also check purchase requests. Second, an agent can be improved and updated without rebuilding the application it lives in.

Part of the same platform

Because agents run inside BuildPad applications, they sit within the same platform as the apps themselves, governed through xAppHub and running wherever your apps run, including your own cloud if you choose. Adding intelligence to your apps doesn't mean adding a new place where things can go wrong unnoticed.

The finishing bench

In a tailor's workshop, a suit isn't finished when the cloth is cut. At the finishing bench, pockets, linings and fastenings are made, tested for strength, and sewn into any suit that needs them. They are what make a suit work for the way you actually live.

Chocolate Factory is BuildPad's finishing bench: the place where the smart details are made, tested and added to applications that already fit your business.

In short

Applications that only store information leave people doing the repetitive work. Chocolate Factory lets you build AI helpers that take that work on, test them properly before they go live, and plug them into any BuildPad app.
